UKAD releases statement following Russia’s missed WADA deadline

Following the report from the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) yesterday that its delegation was unable to complete its work at the Moscow laboratory, UK Anti-Doping (UKAD) has released the following statement:

“UK Anti-Doping (UKAD) is deeply concerned by the World Anti-Doping Agency’s (WADA) report that the delegation to the Moscow laboratory has not been able to complete its work.

Uninhibited access to the Moscow laboratory and the athlete ‘LIMS’ data, was the first condition of WADA’s reinstatement of RUSADA in September 2018. At the same time the process to be followed once the 31 December deadline passed was set out.

The independent Compliance Review Committee (CRC) must now complete its work, and UKAD keenly awaits its recommendation to WADA’s Executive Committee. Given the urgency of the situation, UKAD would anticipate that the Executive Committee meet immediately following the CRC’s meeting on 14-15 January to deliver its subsequent decision on the compliance status of RUSADA.

UKAD will continue to uphold its responsibilities to clean athletes, sports fans and those who work tirelessly for clean sport."
