British Boxer Jack Ewbank receives four-year ban for Anti-Doping Rule Violation
British professional boxer Jack Ewbank has received a four-year ban from sport following an Anti-Doping Rule Violation (ADRV) for Trafficking of a Prohibited Substance.
In September 2023, Mr Ewbank was sentenced to 29-months’ imprisonment at Canterbury Crown Court for being concerned in the supply of cocaine and possession of criminal property. Cocaine is a prohibited substance In-Competition and, under the Anti-Doping Rules, its distribution by an Athlete may amount to an ADRV.
Following the criminal conviction in September 2023, UK Anti-Doping (UKAD) notified Mr Ewbank of his alleged ADRV for ‘Trafficking or Attempted Trafficking of any Prohibited Substance or Prohibited Method’ and issued him with a Provisional Suspension. UKAD later charged Mr Ewbank with the ADRV and the boxer admitted the violation and accepted the period of Ineligibility.
Recognising the time he has spent provisionally suspended, Mr Ewbank’s four-year period of ineligibility is deemed to have commenced on 1 February 2024 and will expire on 31 January 2028.
