The World Anti-Doping Agency releases 2021 Prohibited List
The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has published its 2021 List of Prohibited Substances and Methods. Whether you’re an athlete, coach, physio or doctor, it’s vital you are aware of the changes, so you don’t get caught out and end up with a ban from sport.
You can find the full 2021 List on WADA’s website here and the WADA 2021 Summary of Major Modifications and Explanatory Notes here. With both the new List and the 2021 World Anti-Doping Code coming into effect on 1 January 2021, it’s more important than ever that you familiarise yourself with the key changes.
The List is updated annually and released around the 1 October every year, giving athletes and their support personnel time to get to grips with any changes before the New Year.
We unfortunately can’t help you with any relationship doubts you’re having, however we can help you with any concerns you have about the prohibited status of your medications or their ingredients, and you can check these on the Global DRO website.
If you’re taking a supplement, UKAD is only able to advise about the risks and can’t guarantee that any supplement product is free from containing banned substances. If you do decide to take a supplement, we recommend using a risk minimisation programme like the one offered by LGC, known as Informed Sport. Assess the need, assess the risk and assess the consequences – no supplement is risk free! If you’re still uncertain, please get in touch via our substance enquiry line.
If in doubt, ask for help! And stay tuned for our summary of the key changes to the 2021 List, coming to a screen near you in a few weeks’ time.
