Checking the status of your medications during the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games

The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) has joined Global Drug Reference Online (Global DRO) to enable para-athletes to check the anti-doping status of medication at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games and beyond.

To prevent para-athletes from inadvertently using medication that contains a substance on the World Anti-Doping Agency's (WADA) Prohibited List, the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) has introduced a "Medication Check" available at www.paralympic.org. This service primarily seeks to help those countries that do not have their own medication check.

The introduction of the IPC “Medication Check” service does not involve any changes for UK athletes and support personnel. UK Anti-Doping (UKAD) is a long-standing partner of Global DRO and therefore UK para-athletes should continue to follow their Clean Games education and use the UK Global DRO site for checking their medications. Further information is available at UKAD’s Medicine and TUE Hub for advice on using and purchasing medications abroad.

As part of its anti-doping education efforts at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, the IPC will be promoting the "Medication Check" at the WADA Athlete Engagement booth in the Paralympic Village and in doping control stations at competition venues.

Notes:

Global DRO is a partnership between the Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport (CCES), Swiss Sport Integrity (SSI), UK Anti-Doping (UKAD), and the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA).
